HUPPE cargo bike: Electric kit for bicycle and innovation

Imagine yourself on your bike, loaded with groceries, bags, and even a few tools. Ahead of you, you see a steep hill, enough to discourage you. Yet your bike, as compact as a classic model, barely seems to feel the weight of its load. The climb, once a challenge, becomes smooth and almost effortless…
This scenario is realistic if you have ridden on a HUPPE bicycle: a compact and lightweight cargo bike, which easily carries everything you need without ever compromising comfort.
👉 We'll tell you more in this article. Good news: HUPPE is now powered by Virvolt!
We'll tell you more...
The story behind the creation of bicycles HOOPOE
The HUPPE project began in 2019. It was started by two partners, designers by profession, passionate and avid cyclists, who set out to find a solution for carrying all their everyday belongings: clothes, work bag, groceries, or even all of the above, without being weighed down and forced to give up cycling.
"As users, disappointed by certain accessories with imperfect ergonomics, not entirely concerned by cargo bikes which were too bulky for our use at the time, we decided to take our own path, to imagine a completely new formula inspired by the city and everyday life, by practicality and aesthetics, by life and everything that makes it up." explains Victorien.
The concept HOOPOE : a compact and versatile bike, ideal for everyday transport
The HUPPE concept is the perfect harmony between two fundamental principles:
👉 A smaller size…
"We want a bicycle that can be used by everyone, every day. It must be compact, easy to handle, and allow for unrestricted movement and parking. Its ease of use must be its main advantage compared to other means of transport."
… and a real transport capacity. 👈

"Daily use also means being able to carry everyday items." It's about integrating this function into the very heart of the frame design, finding the ideal balance between compactness and cargo volume. We don't want a simple bike loaded with accessories; we want an integrated solution that is both efficient and suited to everyday life.
To these founding principles, They added complementary, but equally important, data such as the search for comfort, ease of pedaling, reliability, and the desire to produce locally and MADE IN FRANCE, leading to the specifications that would give birth to their first bicycle, an original and unique concept in the world: the CT or Centriporteur.

How the team discovered Virvolt: testimonials and experiences

Victorien, founder of HUPPE, discovered Virvolt through our various communications. Indeed, we try to be present at all the trade shows, and it's paying off!

And they quickly realized that since the release of the Kit 900, We were proposing the solution they had been actively seeking since the very beginning of the project: a kit offering the torque and power of a bottom bracket motor and the ease of integration of a wheel motor.
Victorien specifies : "Very easy to assemble, it integrates perfectly with all our frames without having to go through a "proprietary" interface, it allows easy switching from 100% mechanical propulsion to propulsion with electric assistance and at the same time limits the risks of planned obsolescence."
Being able to work with a French partner was also a major factor in our decision. A "made in France" motor for a "made in France" bicycle makes perfect sense. Our after-sales service is smoother, faster, and communication is greatly simplified.
A word from Victorien, founder of HUPPE:
🤝 "The team is very friendly, "It feels more like working with friends than with subcontractors."
Why did you choose the Virvolt motor? ?
Victorien answers us : "It blends into the background. Discreet and lightweight, it is also very easy to use thanks to its torque sensor, essential for appreciating a good assistance system. Fluid and natural, it responds precisely and ultimately becomes completely unobtrusive. And yet, the 80 Nm of torque are definitely there, and perfectly ready to propel even heavily loaded bicycles.
"After-sales service" French is also a true guarantee of peace of mind for the end user."
He explains that a cargo bike quickly becomes an indispensable ally in daily life. It is often in high demand, as it frequently replaces the main vehicle, and consequently, it sometimes has a tough life.
A breakdown is generally experienced as really frustrating and the need for responsiveness in this type of situation is very strong."Local after-sales service allows for a quick response and minimizes any risk of downtime."
